Seachem PhosNet Phosphate Silicate Remover Aquarium Filter Media
Size:250g/8.8oz Seachem’s PhosNet is a granular ferric oxide (GFO) with high porosity, high surface area, and high binding capacity. It works to rapidly remove phosphates from silicates from both freshwater and saltwater. For over three decades, Seachem has been a company rooted in sound science. Our experience in the hobby and educated staff of chemists and biologists are part of the package when you purchase Seachem products. Seachem remains as one of the few surviving independent and privately owned pet care companies. Seachem is owned and operated by hobbyists. All of our employees are hobbyists who maintain aquariums at home and at the office. Seachem itself was started because one such passionate hobbyist - Dr. Leo G. Morin (Founder) - recognized the lack of available solutions to aquarists'. . This resulted in Seachem’s very first product: Cupraplex (today known as Cupramine). Over thirty years later Seachem is still approaching old problems in a new way. Seachem’s philosophy is that the knowledgeable hobbyist makes the best customer. This is reflected in solid and reliable customer education and support as well as products proven in science and performance. While Seachem has grown rapidly into a national and international firm, it retains the culture of a small company and is readily available to its customers.
Product Features
- REMOVAL: Seachems PhosNet is a granular ferric oxide (GFO) with high porosity, high surface area, and high binding capacity. It works to rapidly remove phosphates from silicates from both freshwater and saltwater.
- BINDING: PhosNet will not release phosphates or silicates back into your tank or aquarium due to its ability to exhibit strong binding capabilities, consequently reducing phosphates and silicates to very low levels.
- USE: The reduction of dust produced by PhosNet makes this GFO product easy to use every time you are wanting to remove phosphate from your aquarium.
- FILTRATION: For best results, PhosNet should be rinsed before use and placed so as to maximize the flow of water through it but not so that it tumbles against itself in flow. It may be used in a canister filter, media chamber, box filter, or any high flow area of a trickle filter and a filter bag is recommended.
- DIRECTIONS: Use 50g (12 cup) of PhosNet for every 200 L (50 US gallons) saltwater or 400 L (100 US gallons) freshwater. Leave PhosNet in place for 4 days, then test phosphate or silicate concentrates. As long as concentrations are above 0. 02 mg/L, the product is not exhausted as over-treating is not recommended.
